Upward Ministry Recognition
First Baptist Church of Graceville honored Chris Jernigan for 14 years of service to the Upward ministry. Chris began coaching the teams on which his children played in 2008 and eventually became the director and motivating force for the Upward ministry. First Baptist Church offers Upward basketball and cheerleading each year in January and February for children in grades K5-8. The mission of Upward is promoting the discovery of Jesus through sports. While children learn the basics of basketball and cheerleading, they also learn helpful life skills, the spirit of cooperation, and the gospel message of Christianity.
